Howdy, Boerne citizens! It looks like we might be getting a Buc-ee’s Travel Center here in Boerne, Texas, after all those delays! Can you imagine seeing that famous Beaver sign along the road? It’s got everyone talking!
Jeff Nadalo, who works with Buc-ee’s, recently mentioned during his interview with KSAT News that they’re hopeful construction will start this summer of 2024. He mentioned that the city is supportive of the project, and they’re excited to bring their super clean bathrooms and yummy food to Boerne.
This has been in the works for almost eight years since Buc-ee’s and the City of Boerne first talked about it in 2016. They planned to start building in 2018 and open in 2019, but things got delayed, especially because of COVID-19.
But, hey, things are looking up! The Texas Department of Transportation has been fixing up the roads around where the Travel Center might go, which is good news.
Paperwork was filed in 2023 to make it official, saying they wanted to start building in October 2023 and finish by October 2024. But, you know, big projects like this can sometimes take longer than expected.
